When looking into the idea of holistic medicine, there are often many questions. Our team has compiled a list of the most common questions you may have when exploring the cannabis and hemp industries.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FULL SPECTRUM, ISOLATE, AND BROAD SPECTRUM?
All of these terms refer to the cannabinoids present in our products. Full-spectrum means there is no extraction and therefore there is THC (within a limit of less than .3% which is the federal legal limit) and all other neighboring cannabinoids. Isolate, means that CBD is the only cannabinoid. In order to achieve an isolate product, all other cannabinoids must be extracted. Broad-spectrum means no THC or other neighboring psychoactive cannabinoids, but instead all CBD and non-psychoactive cannabinoids. Full-spectrum has been considered to be the most effective, as you are getting the benefits of ALL cannabinoids.
WHAT IS THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY TO TAKE CBD?
This can vary from person to person, as everyone’s body works with these products differently. Although we have seen tinctures be the most effective overall, as they are delivered sublingually (under the tongue), the full spectrum oil goes directly to your bloodstream through the receptors in your mouth. This allows the tincture to work on multiple symptoms at a time from the inside out. It is also easy for consistent and daily doses, to allow the flow of CBD to be constant.
WHICH PRODUCT IS BEST FOR PAIN?
This question varies per customer, and our response to this question is similar to all questions of this caliber - what is your preferred delivery method? As previously stated, the most effective way to deliver the product can be by the use of the tincture, but some people do not prefer the oil under the tongue due to problems with things such as taste and texture. Therefore our staff would respond that all full spectrum products can be the most effective, whether that is by tincture, edible, topical, or smokeable, CBD is always an anti-inflammatory product and can, therefore, aid in the relief of pain.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN THIS PRODUCT WON’T GET ME HIGH?
Our products have, if any, a very low dose of THC in our full spectrum line. In order to feel the psychoactivity of THC, the concentration has to be at 1.5% or above. The federal legal limit falls at .3%, therefore our products are all far under that limit, and will not give you a psychoactive head high.
IS CBD EXTRACTED? HOW DO YOU GET THE THC LOWER?
For an isolate product, CBD is extracted out in order to isolate that specific cannabinoid. In full-spectrum products, THC is simply bred out during the early breeding process of the plant.
IF IT DOESN’T GET ME HIGH WHAT CAN IT DO?
Cannabis has a wide variety of benefits other than just for recreational purposes. From being an anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal, to simply aiding in sleep, relaxation, and so on, cannabis does so much more than get you high. You can refer to the illustration underneath question one to visualize those benefits!
HOW IS CBD CANNABIS?
CBD is a cannabinoid that is present in the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids can be defined as chemical compounds that activate CB1 and CB2 receptors in our bodies (part of what is called the endocannabinoid system). Many times all of these terms become blended together and provide a lot of confusion. Therefore it can be helpful to separate them out and define them.
- Endocannabinoid System: A system of cannabinoid chemicals and their receptors. When using cannabis products, the chemical compounds known as cannabinoids link to CB1 and CB2 receptors in our body to provide healing.
- Hemp: This term can typically be used to define the stems of the plant, or as low THC, high CBD breeds of the plant.
- Cannabis: This term can typically be used to define the blooming flowers of the plant, or as high THC, low CBD breeds of the plant.
- Marijuana: This is a term that typically refers to the recreational use of the plant, and is actually just a slang term for cannabis.
- CBD: A cannabinoid also known as cannabidiol, with no psychoactivity, and numerous health benefits, rather than a masking of symptoms it can lead you to a path of healing.
THC: A cannabinoid is typically seen on products as Δ9THC, is the only psychoactive compound, and often increases anxiety or masks problems due to this psychoactivity (the typical “head high”).
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT DOSE IS RIGHT FOR ME?
This is a very common question and varies for each customer. This depends on preference. Some advice our staff may give you is to start small and start with whatever you are most comfortable with. We can typically find a product that works best for your comfort levels - from tinctures and edibles to smokeable, topicals, capsules and more, there is something for everyone! We also always ensure to give answer any questions you have about how many gummies to try or how many mL to take. You can always do your own research and talk to your doctor depending on the severity of your symptoms in order to find what dose will work best.
WILL I PASS A DRUG TEST?
This also varies. Products labeled as full spectrum or smokable flowers do contain small amounts of THC. This won’t get you high, but can still remain in your bloodstream for certain periods of time depending on each individual. We do offer isolate products that provide no risk of THC popping up on a drug test.
